Man Accused Of Shooting Up Forest Park Church
Church Hit By Dozens Of Bullets

FOREST PARK -- Members of a Forest Park church are cleaning up after a man allegedly fired more than 30 bullets into the church early Wednesday.The Word of Deliverance church on Southland Boulevard was shot up with 9mm bullets just before 1 a.m.Police said Jerry Rains, 29, was responsible for the shooting. An officer heard the gunfire and found Rains leaving the church parking lot, smelling of gunpowder.
The officer said she found three empty 9mm ammunition clips.Rains was charged with desecration, carrying a concealed weapon and improperly handling a firearm in a motor vehicle.Damage was estimated at more than $70,000. Bond for Rains was set at $750,000 on Thursday morning.
